Symptoms

Painful tenderness at or near a joint, especially around a shoulder, wrist, or heel (where it is known as Achilles tendinitis), or on the outside of an elbow (where it is called tennis elbow).

In some cases, numbness or tingling.

Stiffness that, along with the pain, restricts the movement of the joint involved.

Occasionally, mild swelling at the joint.

Herbal Formula for ECZEMA

BLOOD CLEANSER

Include the following in the diet: fresh chicory, chives, crab-apple, grapes, fresh green mustard, nettles (make a standard brew tea and add to soups and stews), sow’s thistle, parsley, pumpkin and radish.

BITES AND STINGS

Stings should be treated immediately. In the case of a bee sting, remove the sting straightaway.

Banana

Apply the inside of the skin to the painful area.

Castor oil plant

Rub castor oil onto ticks and tickbites.

Vinegar

Catnip

Cabbage

Dip a leaf in warm water and apply as a poultice to the affected area. Replace with a fresh leaf every now and then. Keep in place with a crêpe bandage. (more…)

Chapped Hand Glove

125 ml (1/2 cup)finely chopped or minced borage leaves

1 dessertspoon castor oil 125 ml (1/2 cup) oats

1 dessertspoon honey

Mix into a paste, adding a little hot water to the borage leaves. Spread over the hands, put on the gloves and keep them on for an hour or two, or overnight. (more…)

Backache, or back pain, is, with headache, one of the commonest and also one of the most serious types of pain experienced. More working days are lost in the western world through back problems than from any other illness except flu. There is little surprise in this, given that the back (and neck), consisting of the spine and a broad swathe of interconnecting muscles and tissues, is almost exclusively responsible for holding us upright and keeping most organs in their correct position. Neckache can be as mild as a passing discomfort from sitting or lying too long in one position to a more serious and chronic condition, requiring patience and care to correct. Because the neck is one of the most sensitive parts of the body—it is the conduit for all the blood supply and nerve signals to the brain— a problem with the neck can produce symptoms in the head, such as headaches, dizziness, aching eyes, blurred vision, and jaw ache. A mild ache in the neck can be put right simply by massaging the area with your hand until the pain goes. A more severe ache, such as a “crick” or stiff neck (where the head has become “stuck” at an uncomfortable angle and is painful to move), or neck spasm (torticolli) need more complex treatment.
