Cooling Diaphoretic Tea
This tea is excellent for relieving a cold or flu. It is especially helpful for “hot” symptoms such as a fever, as it helps the body to naturally cool down by inducing perspiration, thus eliminating the virus.
2 teaspoons yarrow
2 teaspoons peppermint
1 teaspoon anise seeds, if desired for flavor
Pour 3 cups of boiling water over the herbs. Cover, and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain, and add honey and lemon if desired. Drink hot, 3 cups a day
Warming Diaphoretic Tea
This is a wonderful tea for alleviating the chills and muscle soreness that often accompany a cold or flu. Ginger and cinnamon have warming properties and help to stimulate circulation.
2 tablespoons fresh ginger root, chopped 1 stick cinnamon, crushed
1 teaspoon fennel seeds, bruised
2 teaspoons licorice root if desired
Place the herbs into a pot along with 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil, and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to steep for an additional 10 minutes. Strain, and if you don’t use licorice, add honey if desired. Drink hot, up to 3 cups a day.

Lymph-Purifying Tincture
This tincture is helpful to take during a cleansing program to purify the lymphatic fluid and to help to cleanse the lymph nodes. Echinacea and goldenseal have powerful antimicrobial properties.
1/2 ounce echinacea root
1/4 ounce goldenseal root
1/4 ounce prickly ash bark vodka
Powder herbs in a blender. Place in a clean glass jar and add enough vodka to cover the herbs, plus 2 inches. Let steep in a warm, dark place and give the jar a gentle shake every day. After 3 weeks, strain the alcohol from the herbs through several layers of cheesecloth. Rebottle in a dark glass container and store away from heat and light. Take 1 dropperful of tincture in a small amount of warm water 3 times daily for up to 2 weeks.
