Pure jojoba oil is an excellent facial moisturizer. Because it is similar to the skin’s natural oils, it is easily absorbed. Fragrant essential oils balance and rejuvenate the skin.
- 1 ounce jojoba oil
- 10-20 drops essential oil appropriate for your skin type
Combine 10 to 20 drops of an essential oil (or combination of essential oils) appropriate for your skin type with 1 ounce of jojoba oil in a glass bottle. A glass pharmacy bottle with a dropper works well for dispensing droplets of oil. Cleanse your skin, apply a toner, and massage 3 to 4 drops of the moisturizing oil into your damp skin.
Stimulating Scalp Massage
Refresh and cleanse your scalp with this blend of stimulating essential oils. As an extra benefit, rosemary and basil are energizing fragrances and promote mental clarity.
- 2 drops rosemary essential oil
- 2 drops basil essential oil
- 1 teaspoon distilled witch hazel
Combine 2 drops each of rosemary and basil essential oils with 1 teaspoon of distilled witch hazel extract. Massage the mixture into your scalp with your fingers, using gentle, circular movements. Briskly tap your scalp with your fingertips and tug your hair gently at the roots to stimulate circulation.
Scalp-Conditioning Treatment
This conditioning treatment helps to maintain a healthy scalp and promotes hair growth. Apply approximately 30 minutes before shampooing
- 2 ounces jojoba oil
- 20 drops rosemary essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
In a glass bottle, combine jojoba oil with rosemary and lavender essential oils. Shake well. To use, apply 1/2 teaspoon or more to your scalp, massaging in with your fingertips. Leave on for 30 minutes or even overnight, if desired. Shampoo and condition as usual.
Deep-Conditioning Hair Treatment
A deep conditioning treatment helps to restore softness and shine to dull, dry hair
- 2 ounces olive oil
- 2 ounces jojoba oil
- 20 drops rosemary essential oil
- 1-2 teaspoons honey
Pour the olive and jojoba oils into a glass bottle. Add the rosemary essential oil and shake well.
Dampen your hair with warm water. Gently heat 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey and 1 to 2 tablespoons of the oil mixture to a comfortably warm temperature. Massage the warm oil mixture into your scalp with your fingertips. Work the oil through your hair all the way to the ends.
Cover your hair with a shower cap and a hot, damp towel to help the oils penetrate the hair. Leave in place for 30 minutes, replacing the hot towel as it cools.
Shampoo twice to remove the conditioning treatment, and follow with a small amount of your usual conditioner if necessary.
