Spa Day at Home
Posted by arlene under Beauty , Flowers , Fruits , Hair , Health , Herbs , Massage , Moisturizer , Natural , Recipe , Relax , Shampoo , Spa , TeaMake time in your life each week to create your own at-home spa experience. Set aside at least 2 hours if you can, but even if you have only I hour, you can indulge in a variety of bodycare treatments that will refresh and renew your body, mind, and spirit.
Gather together everything you will need; your skin, hair, and bodycare products and a thick bathtowel and robe are essentials. Some nice extras include a bath pillow, candles, incense, and soothing music. Brew a cup of your favorite herbal tea or make a glass of fresh fruit or vegetable juice, turn off the phone, and put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. You deserve this uninterrupted time to nurture your body and spirit.
- Begin with a Stimulating Scalp Massage or a Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment.
- Time required: 5 minutes
- Wash your face with an Herbal Cleansing Milk or gentle cleanser of your choice and warm water.
- Time required: 2 minutes
- Deep cleanse your skin with an Herbal or Aromatherapy Facial Sauna. If time is limited, use an Aromatherapy Facial Compress.
- Time required: 10 minutes (2 minutes for Facial Compress)
- Apply a Strawberry Exfoliating Mask to your face and neck. With the mask in place, treat your feet to a Softening Foot Soak. Clean and trim your toenails and cuticles and pumice away rough spots on your heels.
- Time required: 15 minutes
- Remove the Strawberry Exfoliating Mask with a warm, wet washcloth. Apply an Avocado Moisturizing Mask or a Honey-Lavender Mask.
- Time required: 5 minutes
- Fill the bathtub with warm water. While you’re waiting for the tub to fill, briskly dry brush the skin over your entire body with a natural bristle body brush.
- Time required: 5 minutes
- Choose a bath treatment from the Hydrotherapy recipes, or simply add 10 drops of lavender essential oil to the bathwater. Add 1 cup of baking soda to soften the water if desired, and 1 teaspoon of almond oil if your skin tends to be dry. Soak, relax, and enjoy. Visualize any tension flowing out of your body and mind.
- Time required: 15 minutes
- If desired, apply an all-over exfoliating body scrub from the Hydrotherapy recipes to polish and smooth your body. Remove the moisturizing mask from your face with a warm, wet washcloth. Shampoo and condition your hair, and follow with an Herbal Hair Rinse if desired. Shower off using warm water, and finish with an invigorating cool rinse.
- Time required: 15 minutes
- Pat your skin dry and apply an Aromatherapy Massage Oil or moisturizer while your skin is still damp. Spritz your face with an Aromatherapy Toner and apply an Aromatherapy Facial Oil. Time required: 5 minutes
- Soak your hands in an Aromatherapy Nail Soak and clean and push back your cuticles with an orange stick. Trim and file your nails, apply Nail Nourishing Oil, and buff to a gloss.
- Time required: 10 minutes
