Place a few drops of The Fragrant Garden Breathe Easy Oil on the pillow at night, on a light ring or in a scent pot in the room overnight. The Fragrant Garden Breathe Easy Pot Pourri is also helpful. Put some in a large bowl in the bedroom and refresh with a drop of the oil nightly.

Often snoring is caused by congested airways, especially the sinuses. A change in diet, avoiding alcohol and/or beef, milk and cheese can be helpful. One of my female customers once said ‘Why do men always snore when they drink?’ While this is a physical impossibility, alcohol may make one snore more at night due to its depressant effect on muscles of the upper airways, causing some degree of obstruction. Unfortunately, there is only one way to find out if this is the cause of your snoring problems. Stop drinking!

Some naturopaths suggest you avoid foods that they feel create mucus, such as refined carbohydrates and dairy products.

Sore ThroatHerbal Beauty

For those who have to clear their throats so often during a talk there is a simple, inexpensive, harmless effective remedy: Cloves—try it … Just before going on the radio, or just before beginning a public talk, put two or three cloves in the mouth and chew and swallow slowly. That is all.

Here is my famous, not-yet-patented cure.

Take a sprig of fresh sage, six sprigs of fresh lemon thyme, a sprig of yarrow and a comfrey leaf. Place in two cups of water and bring to the boil. Sweeten with a little honey and sip this tea throughout the day. Sage is astringent and antiseptic, thyme is antiseptic, comfrey is soothing and healing, yarrow is a very old herb (it reduces temperature and is anti-inflammatory) and I like to include it. This can really help if you take it before the sore throat fully develops. It is best drunk warm to hot as hot drinks are also efficacious for sore throats.

Thyme makes matter out of ye Thorax, easy to come up.

A piece of clear, fresh aloe gel placed between the teeth and cheek and slowly sucked is also helpful. Try not to get any of the yellow sap as it is incredibly bitter. The yellow sap is healing too, but it tastes just awful. Wash it off the clear inner gel before using.

The Chinese use a decoction (strongly boiled-up tea) of honeysuckle flowers with a little natural liquorice. Gargling with this helps laryngitis. Honeysuckle is a climber which grows wild everywhere. It has gold and white fragrant flowers.

Slippery Elm boiled in water makes one of the best gargles for a sore throat that can be supplied by the whole list of medicines. It should be sweetened with sugar.”

If you don’t have these herbs on hand, use a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water (as hot as you can stand) and gargle for about three minutes. Do not swallow. Salty water is a strong disinfectant.
